Casavacanze quick guide to the neighbourhood

This page gives you basic indications to get your bearings in the neighbourhood. It is constantly updated and expanded.

The nearest supermarket is the Nahkauf, on the corner of Kielufer and Elsenstr. Just outside the house, walk  left on Elsenstr. and, a few minutes later, you'll arrive at the canal where, in addition to the supermarket, you'll find a Korean restaurant and a nice CafĂ©

Just in front of the house, in a tipical Berlin Hinterhof there is the a wonderful organic Bakery

If you walk on Elsenstr. in the opposite direction, about ten minutes later, you will find the Park Centre on the right: it is a large shopping centre with all types of shops, foods, fashion, flowers, etc...

Parallel to Elsesnstr. there is Bouchèstr. where you will find the LPG, a large organic food supermarket with wholemeal bakery and organic drugstore.

If you fancy a longer walk on the canal, don't miss the Maybachufer open-air market on Tuesdays and Fridays which is really beautiful and shows the multicultural aspect of Berlin; you can find every sort of things at excellent prices.

Nearby there are several Kneipe where you can be shoulder to shoulder with people from the neighbourhood or, the near Karl-Kunger-Strasse, where there are cafes and restaurants with open-air seating and a more "alternative" scene.

Crossing the canal, to the right of Wildenbruchstr., on the opposite side (Weiglandufer) the so-called Reuterkiez begins. Here you will find galleries, artists' atelier, small clubs often with live music, cafes and restaurants which offer cuisines from around the world. Though the district is no longer a "Geheimtipp", an interesting place known by very few people, it is still quite interesting and authentic and not yet discovered by mass tourism.
